October to December: Cotton Harvest
A South Plains problem that does not exist anywhere else on this list.
Harvest puts cotton lint and gin trash into the air across the whole region for weeks. It settles on photo-eye lenses, gathers along seal lines and mats into the bottom track, and unlike sand it holds moisture. If your door starts refusing to close in November, check the lenses before you check anything else. This is the single most predictable service call of the Lubbock year.
