Texas has no state credential for garage door work, so the local position is what matters. The City of Lubbock operates a contractor registration programme through Building Safety, whose published requirements include an application fee together with either proof of general liability coverage or a compliance bond. A straight door-for-door replacement in an existing opening generally does not need a permit; changing the opening, the header, structural work or a new opener circuit does. Wolfforth, Shallowater, Idalou, Slaton, New Deal and Ransom Canyon are separate municipalities, the land between them is unincorporated Lubbock County, and Levelland, Brownfield, Post and Plainview each fall to a different county.
